The Top 30 hits on “The Music FM” 47 years ago today.
It’s “Star 94” now, but 47 years ago it was 94Q, and in tough competition with the other Top 40 station in town, Z93 (now “929 The Game” and under the same ownership, Audacy.) 94Q, which at one time was under the same ownership as WXIA-TV, leaned more adult than Z93 did, but their playlists did have similar selections as the years went by. The late Gary McKee was its longtime morning DJ. Tom Sullivan and a very young Ryan Seacrest were also heard here. It’s also known for it’s nightime smooth jazz show, “Jazz Flavors.”
