It’s been quite a year so far for traffic reporter/radio host Chris “Crash” Clark.
After suddenly finding himself out of a job after being cut from Classic Alternative WNNX 99X nearly a month ago, Crash will soon be waking Atlantans up once again, this time at crosstown news and talk radio station WSB 750/95.5.
Cox Media Group-owned WSB announced today that Crash will be joining their traffic reporting team. He starts on Monday, September 14th.
Crash knows Atlanta traffic very well. His traffic reporting career started in June 1989 at CHR station WAPW Power 99 and continued when it became the first version of 99X in late 1992. He later crossed over to Audacy (at the time CBS Radio) stations V-103 and Dave 92.9 FM (now Sports 92.9 The Game). He then jumped to television, where he did
morning traffic reports for WXIA TV 11 Alive for eleven years, earning three Emmy Awards in the process.
Clark left WXIA in late 2024. The current WXIA traffic reporters, Doug Turnbill and Rachel Cox-Rosen arived mid 2025. Crash joined the second era of 99X as once again the station’s traffic reporter last year. He would later become a larger presence on the Morning X alongside Steve Barnes and Leslie Fram. When Fram departed earlier this year, Barnes and Crash became 99X’s new morning team.
That ended abruptly when 99X owner Cumulus Media dismissed nearly everyone at the station, including Crash, in early August, for bugetary reasons.
“Crash’s knowledge of Atlanta traffic and his long time expirence in the market make him a great addition to our award winning traffic team,” said Ken Charles, Director of Operations, Branding and Programing for 95.5 WSB.
Crash announced his arrival to the station this afternoon on Instagram: “Truly blessed beyond belief to share this news. WOW 😳 Here we go!”
While WSB awaits Crash, mornings at 99X remain jockless as of this post.
