WDUN AM 550/FM 102.9 morning talk host Martha Zoller will be stepping down from the station, effective June 26.
Originally reported by Radio Insight, Zollar was a part of the Gainesville/Clarkesville station from 1994 to 2009 and returned in 2019. She hosts The Martha Zoller Show from 9-11 am each weekday. After her departure date, she will become a senior political analyst for the station and will do minute-long commentaries as well.
“This has been one of the great privileges of my professional life,” said Zoller, in a statement. “WDUN has allowed me to talk with governors, senators, local leaders, neighbors, and listeners who care deeply about their communities. I’ve had a front-row seat to history, politics, and the people who shape North Georgia. I am grateful for every conversation, every caller, and every experience I’ve had on WDUN.”‘
“Martha has been a valued colleague, trusted voice, and dear friend to so many of us at WDUN,” said Jay Jacobs, owner of the station. “For decades, she has brought integrity, intelligence, and passion to every conversation, helping listeners better understand the issues that shape our community, our state, and our nation. We are deeply grateful for her service and thrilled that her voice will remain part of the Jacobs Media family through her continued work as our Sr. Political Analyst.”
In addition to radio, Zollar appeared as a TV commentator on WAGA’s The Georgia Gang, and on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. She also ran for the Republican nomination for a north Georgia congressional seat.
UPDATE (6/15): Zollar told Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Rodney Ho she decided to part with WDUN following a “stress-related heart attack.” She told Ho about her impending departure, “I’m leaving on my own terms…I can now do what I want to do when I want to do it. I feel good about it.”
