The first FIFA World Cup 2026 game held in Atlanta was a success from all accounts, but there’s not much information to verify how well it did in at-home viewership.
There are no published TV or online domestic viewership data on the Spain vs. Cape Verde match that took place on June 15 at Atlanta Stadium. YouTube data and Nielsen data on the match, either in the U.S. or in the Atlanta market, are not publicly available as of 9:30 a.m., 6/18/26.
The only published data found on the web is on Spain TV viewership. It is estimated that about 11.9 million viewers in Spain watched at least part of the match, and about 943,000 unique viewers streamed the match live on RTVE Play, according to Diario AS.
On YouTube, there are highlights of the game via FIFA and Fox Sports, which has the rights to FIFA games in the US. As of posting, Fox’s Extended Highlights of the game garnered 1.9 million views in its second day online. The regular highlights post got 640 thousand views in that same amount of time. The official FIFA posting of the 0-0 draw game got 1.1 million views after one day online. A stream of the game by RBA Sports & Entertainment got 2.6 thousand streams.
There’s more accessible data on the Fox telecast of other previously aired FIFA games. Awful Announcing reports strong ratings for the US vs. Paraguay game, and also Morocco vs. Brazil. Fox reports an average of 6.66 million viewers per game on its sports platforms. This year’s FIFA World Cup is up a huge 152% over the last Cup telecast in 2022.
Official viewership estimates of this game will be posted as they become available.
The second of eight Atlanta-based games, Czechia vs. South Africa, will be at 12 PM ET on FOX, Telemundo, Peacock, iHeart, and SiriusXM Channel 157.
