The southeastern division of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced a new member of their board of governors.
He’s Eric Perry, the weekend anchor at WAGA Fox 5.
Perry has won five of those Emmy Awards that the organization passes out every year for local news excellence. He joined Fox 5 in 2020, and in the last six years at the Fox O&O, he’s covered such events as the death of former President Jimmy Carter, First Lady Rosalynn Carter, and the active shooting incident at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Atlanta native graduated from the DeKalb School of the Arts, then graduated from Hampton University. Perry started his television career at WBBJ in Jackson, Tennessee, as a weekend anchor. He then joined NBC Richmond, Virginia affiliate WWBT TV, working weekend mornings at the station.
Perry stated on Facebook that he was “happy to join” the board. “Looking forward to what’s to come,” he said.
