Yung Joc has resigned with WWSZ Streetz 94.5 for two more years, said the station’s parent company, Core Radio Group.
The deal keeps Joc on the Atlanta hip hop station and, thanks to a joint extension with radio syndicator Superadio Networks, similar stations across the country.
Joc, along with co-hosts Mz. Shyneka and Shawty Shawty have helmed the Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover since November 2016, four years after “Streetz” hit the airwaves on WWSZ 1420 AM (later also on FM on 94.5 W233BF). Since then, Joc’s show has grown to fifteen additional radio stations across the country (including WEAS Savannah, 98.3 The Beat in Columbus, Ga., and WEUP Huntsville) and is now on the tube, thanks to the station’s live video component, Streetz TV.
“Core Radio Group gave me the platform to connect with the culture in a whole new way,” said Joc in a statement. “With Superadio taking us into over 15 markets and Streetz TV bringing us to your screens, we’ve built something incredibly special. We’re turning the energy up even higher for the next two years.
“Locking Joc in for another two years was a top priority,” said Core Radio Group CEO Steve Hegwood. “He is a premier media personality. Expanding his reach nationally through Superadio, combined with our strategic visual broadcast on Streetz TV, ensures our audience never misses a moment.”
Joc, Mz. Shyneka, and Shawty also host The Streetz Weekend Countdown, which counts down the top 20 Hip Hop and R&B songs of the week.
Joc is also a multiplatinum hip hop artist, actor, and entrepreneur in addition to being a radio host. He scored two hit albums, “New Joc City” (2006) and “Hustlenomics” (2007). His biggest hits were “It’s Goin’ Down” (2006) and “Buy You A Drank (Shawty Snappin)” with T-Pain the following year. He stars on the locally taped reality series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, and is the owner of the Atlanta-based Swagg Team Entertainment.
