WAGA Fox 5’s Natalie McCann had a surprise announcement for Good Day Atlanta viewers this morning.
She announced that she is leaving the show and Fox 5 after ten years at the station.
McCann has been a steady, likeable presence on the 32-year-old GDA since 2016, steering viewers through Atlanta’s morning rush hour traffic jungle Monday through Friday on the show. She also interviewed celebrities, athletes, VIP’s, and more during her time as co-hostess on the show.
“I can’t thank you guys enough for allowing me to share your stories, for welcoming me into your homes, and for starting your mornings with us on here on Good Day Atlanta,” said McCann, seated along with her GDA colleagues this morning. “It has truly been an honor and a dream come true to come home and work in my hometown. I grew up right before your eyes. I walked through these doors as a 26-year-old girl chasing a dream, and over the last decade, you’ve been there through every chapter with me. You watched me become a wife, a mom to two beautiful kids, and the person I am today. Thank you so much for being part of that journey.”
McCann joined Fox 5 in June 2016 as a multimedia journalist, and she would eventually become the morning traffic reporter and newscaster at the station. Before she arrived at Fox 5, she worked at a Thomasville, Georgia newspaper as a news and sports writer. She entered the world of TV journalism when she became an MMJ and morning anchor at NBC affiliate WLTZ in Columbus, Georgia. From there, she landed at Fox 5.
The Auburn University grad grew up in Alpharetta and graduated from Chattahoochee High School.

McCann left the door open to the possibility she may return to TV in the future.”This isn’t goodbye,” she said. “I’ll see you guys soon!”
