From courtside to the gridiron.
After a single season as the sideline reporter for the Atlanta Hawks, Madison Hock will be on the sidelines for ESPN’s Atlantic Coast Conference college football games this upcoming season, ESPN and she herself confirmed today.
Hock will be teamed with playcallers Roxy Bernstein and Dave Clawson during select ACC Network games.
“I’ve spent my entire career working toward this opportunity,” said Knoxville, Tennessee-born Hock on her Instagram account. “Four years ago, I was shooting high school football in the pouring rain in a small market, wondering if I’d ever get this chance. Looking back now, every step was worth it. And I always believed it would be. I make a living with words, yet it’s hard to find the right ones to truly express what this opportunity means to me. I can’t wait for kickoff. 😆 let’s goooo.”
Whether or not Hock will be splitting her sideline time with the Hawks is unsettled. The Hawks, as reported earlier, have teamed up with Gray Media to
broadcast their home games after the collapse of the company that employed her, FanDuel Sports Network. Gray has not yet announced who will make up the on-air crew, or more specifically, whether incumbent Hawks TV play callers Bob Rathbun, Dominique Wilkins, or Hock will return next season.
Hock’s sports media credentials are extensive. The Belmont University Mass Communications and Sports Media graduate (who was also a Division I player for the Belmont Bruins women’s basketball team) started at Knoxville NBC affiliate WBIR-TV. She then joined FanDuel Sports Network as a pre- and postgame host for the Texas Rangers, and was also a studio analyst/sideline reporter for the New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs, and Oklahoma City Thunder. She was also an analyst and play caller for Fox Sports’ Big 12 games, worked at Cumulus Media’s 104.5 The Zone in Nashville, and created content for the NFL and Turner Broadcasting System in Atlanta.
