- Cumulus Deals Away More Stations
The Atlanta-based radio group is still trying to slim down, both in head count and stations, and they have sold two more this week. Cumulus Media is selling 95.5 WXIV, a Classic Rock station in Savannah, Ga., and KKEG in Bentonville/Fayetteville, AR., a classic hits station, to Radio Training Network for $2,050,000. The religious broadcaster bought 97.9 W250BC in Atlanta (formerly OG 97.9, now on 98.9) and two other stations in Alabama and South Carolina a few months ago. Radio Insight reports that Cumulus will keep the intellectual property of WIXV and KKEG. Cumulus now owns three stations in the Savannah market: Country WJCL, Hip Hp WEAS, and Adult R&R WTYB.
- WSB-TV Confirms Tamron Hall Return
According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Rodney Ho, the hourlong talker will be rejoining WSB-TV’s lineup, but not in the afternoons, at least not yet. Starting September 14, the show will air at 1:05 am after ABC’s Nightline. This is Tamron Hall’s first appearance on Channel 2 in a year, since she was on CBS Atlanta’s schedule last season. Her show originally ran on Channel 2 from 2019-25.
- Sports Reporter Returns to Fox 5
It gets very busy at the Fox 5 Sports Bunker these days, as they are the flagship station for the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs. So a familiar face has rejoined the crew to help: Olivia Whitmire, a former sports journalist from Huntsville, Alabama’s WHNT, is back for her second year reporting and producing at the station. The University of Alabama grad has had more than ten years of combined TV experience working for WAGA, WHNT, and her Alma Mata’s station, WUVA Ch. 23. The Atlanta native added ESPN broadcasts to her resume this past summer.
