One of the many signs that college football isn’t too far away is announcements of who will be calling and reporting on the games once they start.
ESPN today announced the college football commentator teams that will be serving its slate of CFB games this fall on the network. Some notable Georgia-based talent will be representing on the mic and on the field come this September.
The Georgia-based talent reporting for CFB duty on ESPN includes:
🏈 Sherree Burruss – In her fourth season of ESPN CFB reporting. She started in fall 2023, doing sideline reporting for college football games on ESPN’s ACC Network. She’s also worked at the NFL Network and CBS Sports Network, serving as a host and reporter at both networks. She was an anchor for CBS Sports HQ. Before she went national, she worked as a sports anchor/reporter for Atlanta’s WANF (then WGCL) from July 2015 to December 2016. She was also a sports reporter for WRC-TV 4 in Washington DC. and KMIZ, Columbia, Missouri.
🏈 Aaron Murray – Murray was the Georgia Bulldog’s quarterback from 2009-13, so he knows all about the CFB experience on the field as well as on camera. He joined ESPN as a college football analyst in the fall of 2022. He called games alongside Dave Neal and another Atlanta pro, Ashley ShahAhmadi (now with NBC Sports). He will once again be calling games for ESPN’s SEC Network.
🏈 Wes Durham – Alongside his other play-calling duties with the Atlanta Falcons, Durham will be at the booth again this season for ESPN ACC games. He was one of the first to be hired for the ACC Network, according to ESPN. He started calling plays for the network in 2023, but even before then, he was the radio voice for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1995-2013. He has also called games for ACC football, basketball, and baseball for Fox Sports South/Raycom Sports.
🏈 Madison Hock – The newest member of ESPN’s CFB crew this year. She previously was a sideline reporter for the now-defunct FanDuel Sports South, covering Atlanta Hawks Games. For more on Hock, go to this post.
Also, Atlanta-based longtime ESPN CFB sideline reporter Marilyn Payne is not listed on ESPN’s just-released CFB commentator teams publicity package. Her participation this year has not yet been confirmed by the network. She has been a sideline reporter for ESPN since 2022.
ESPN commentator assignments will be announced starting at the end of August on a weekly basis, according to the network.
