The Atlanta Top 40 radio wars that raged in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s continued into the ’00s when WWWQ (“All The Hits Q100”) launched on January 23, 2001, to challenge the incumbent hit music station Star 94. Formerly WHMA in Anniston, Alabama, which was moved into the Atlanta market by WNNX owner Susquehanna Radio (now Cumulus), Q100 battled Star 94 with a younger music mix and presentation. Q100 was the flagship station for The Bert Show, a successful morning program hosted by Bert Weiss until October last year. Cumulus decided to (temporarily) retire 99X from its 99.7 frequency and move Q100 to that frequency to boost its presence in the Atlanta market in January 2008. Manstream rock would take over the 100.5 dial after the Q100 move. Today, WWWQ is now known as Q99.7 and The Q Morning Crew featuring Joe Breezy, DK, and Cort Freeman starts mornings, followed by Jade (10 am-2 pm), former Bert Show co-host Kristin Klingshrin along with Ethan Cole (2-7 pm), Laura (7 pm-Midnight), Jade again with Tyler rounding out the night. The Daily Download with Carson Daly can also be heard on Sundays.
